So the groundhog decimated the peas, the purple sprouting broccoli, the carrots, the beets, the rutabaga, the black raspberries (just the berries), the melons (leaves and all), the lettuce, and the squash. It eventually got used to eating (apples and strawberries were favorites) out of the live trap (which was wired open for 2 months), and then I caught it. It took a trip; it wasn’t a vacation to a state park or someone’s acreage; groundhogs are a problem and they’re territorial. It’s not a good idea to dump one in a park or a farm or someone’s acreage. Once I was sure there were no more groundhogs living in the den, I filled it in and covered it with cement blocks since groundhogs will move into vacant dens.
